Guadalajara, Historic Centre

I spent my first full day in Guadalajara in the historic centre of the city, el Centro. It was a Sunday, and a lot of the roads are closed to cars on Sundays. The city was certainly full of people. And police, and even military with machine guns. I did see those in Mazatlán, too, it’s not an uncommon sight in Mexico. There to ensure order, I suppose.

Walking among the locals and seeing so many stores and little shops, food everywhere, old churches and buildings… it was quite lovely. The temperatures a lovely summer weather in the high 20’s, it was a fantastic first impression.

I liked the mercado and the street vendors. Below is a few second long video of the stand with the birds… I just had to capture the noise those birds made. It lured me out of the mercado and around the corner because I was curious what was going on.

Also check out the little video with the pedestrian traffic light. I love the little walking man who speeds up and goes into a run as the green cycle completes.

This is just to show a few impressions in the photos below.
